Summer internship lands a Falcon at NBC Sports
This summer, Gentel Blair, a junior majoring in mass communications from Lexington, Kentucky, had an opportunity to intern with NBC Sports at the 2014 USA Track and Field Championship in Sacramento, Calif. where all of the top track athletes in the USA competed.
“I was honored when I got the chance to work with the amazing Ato Bolden,” Blair said. “It was such an honor job shadowing him and learning what it takes to be a real television broadcast analyst and seeing all the behind the scenes action. It was such a phenomenal internship. I would like to thank my mentor, Ato Boldon, for giving me this special opportunity.”
Boldon is a former athlete from Trinidad and Tobago and a four-time Olympic Medal winner.
Blair, who is a former track and field student-athlete, was part of the 2014 CIAA Indoor Track and Field Championship team. She was also a sideline reporter for Saint Augustine’s University football and basketball games. She is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
